The Texas Third District Court of Appeals is one of the most important courts in Texas, superseded only by the Court of Criminal Appeals and the Supreme Court of Texas. Comprised of six justices, the court hears both civil and criminal lawsuit appeals, and our decisions serve as the last word in more than 90% of the cases we hear. The court serves twenty-four central Texas counties, and because Austin is included in our jurisdiction, much of our work involves high-profile, high-stakes appellate matters of the State of Texas and its agencies.
